A Little Town with a Big Decision
The City of Hermosa Beach is eyeing a hostile takeover of a publicly traded utility in a power grab all in the name of green power as block-by-block municipalities all over the country sell us out to the UN…
The United Nations was established to prevent world destruction from the number one threat of their time, atomic war. Then, about twenty-five years ago, the UN declared that a new threat of cataclysmic proportions had emerged, this time, from man-made pollution; so they drew up a set of objectives and asked participating member nations to voluntarily cooperate in following them in order to stave off imminent catastrophe. The US embraced these objectives and states like California followed.
Fast-forward to 2012, Hermosa Beach, CA was awarded a State grant of over $400,000 to participate in meeting these targets with a particular emphasis on air pollution from carbon emissions. Since then, the City has established a number of regulations to fulfill its mandate for clean air, the latest of which occurred in August 2016 with a stunning ordinance that placed them on a path to grab the revenue stream of a publicly-held utility effectively amounting to a hostile takeover of a US business. And, by the way, by force of State law, the power company has been muzzled from stating its case in the court of public opinion and must fully cooperate in the caper, all in the name of combating global warming; I mean climate change…
A final decision has yet to be made but it is a dual decision on the micro and macro level. Let me provide an analogy first to explain my case. To facilitate peace, inter-European commerce arrangements were solidified into trade agreements between neighboring nations which further necessitated their codification into international law and a common currency called the Eurodollar which led to the eventuality of a supra governing agency of non-elected bureaucrats over these nation-states. So what does this have to do with little Hermosa Beach?
Everybody wants clean air and clean water and a better future for their children and grandchildren but at what cost? For the course being taken by the City along with other municipalities and states for the cause of environmentalism, like the example of the European Union above, is leading to further US entanglement with the United Nations and their proclivity for global governance. And what then will happen to our individual rights and national sovereignty and to future generations? I submit to you that this, truly, is the most important threat we face in our lifetime when our schools, media and governmental institutions have been seduced by the “false song of globalism” all in the name of saving the planet; and since municipalities are the building blocks of the collectivists’ dreams, they're at ground zero. Choose wisely little Hermosa.
